Jessica Montgomery has joined the new Liverpool City Region AI Task Force, an expert advisory group established to help shape the development and adoption of AI across the region.

The Task Force brings together leaders from academia, industry, healthcare and public services to advise the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and its Chief AI Officer on a long-term approach to AI. Its work will include the use of AI in public services, health, education and transport, alongside questions of economic growth, skills and responsible adoption.

Jessica will bring expertise from her research on AI adoption, public dialogue and the use of AI in public institutions. Her work at Cambridge includes the Local Government AI Accelerator, which works with councils to explore the practical opportunities and challenges involved in adopting AI in public services.

The appointment provides a further setting in which ML@CL’s research on institutional capability and AI adoption can engage with the practical choices facing public institutions as they seek to translate advances in AI into public value.

The Task Force will meet for the first time following the Liverpool City Region AI Summit in October 2026.
